Before & after. This is such a cool looking toy to begin with.

How did you handle the grip? I am looking to work on this toy myself, and looking for guidance.

Hi, I know my reply is a few months late. Life gets in the way and I don't check in here as often as I'd like. :(

Don't know if you're still working on your guns, but I base coated mine with Krylon Fusion for Plastic Black Satin, then used Rub N Buff on my finger for the metallic finishes. I put a tiny amount of Rub N Buff on my finger and then dab that onto a paper towel so that I end up with a thin coating on my skin. Your finger should be just slightly moist with Rub N Buff. Lightly smear the Rub N Buff onto the gun, then use another finger to spread that around until it can't smear any more. Your "clean" finger doesn't have to be perfectly clean, just not as coated with Rub N Buff as the finger you're using to apply the initial smear. Keep repeating the process until you get your desired effect. This method is kind of like using a dry brush technique, but with your fingers instead. It is more time consuming, but I think the end result speaks for itself. Hope this helps you some. Good luck with your guns!

Rub N Buff works great. Your "steel" is fantastically done. So few have the technique to use Rub N Buff so well.

Here's my steampunk themed version of the Lanard. [link]

VPhilly, I absolutely LOVE your work on these guns. I am going to try and do something with this model to make a 20K LUTS type underwater pistol. Could you share exactly what brand name paints you use for the steel & bronze/brass parts. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!

Take Care and Stay Safe!

Hi! Sorry it took so long to respond to your message and thanks for the compliments on my work! The paints I use are Rub N Buff for the steel & bronze look and the base coat was Krylon Fusion for Plastic Black Satin. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your work. +

Holy smokes, I *MUST* find this toy! I see in some modding forums that it's found at KMart in the US? I shall have to adventure forth and see if I can find it!

Your work on it is impeccable! Congrats on such great work and such a great find!

It's my pleasure! You've got me on the hunt for those Lanard Rotator X-8 dart guns! I can't seem to find ANY in the San Diego area! No hide nor hair at K-Marts, Targets, Wallmarts or even blind stabs at Wallgreens.

I shall not be denied! (heheh!)
